DAY 5

Ok so just came back from the wake.
It made my heartache.

Oh well…
Im gonna blog about DAY 5 now! else i’ll never be able to finish before i go to camp.
So just words without pics for now cause I NEED TO GET UP AT 5 TMR!:/
no wait. I should actually be excited cause I need to go for CHC’S 21st BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!=D
Hahaha ok.
(there’ll be pics now! cause it’s SUNDAY already and I’m back from church!)
SO ANYWAY….

DAY 5!

ONCE AGAIN,
we woke up nice and early and this time we couldnt find any breakfast shops that were open cause it was SUNDAY!
like omg.
hungry like mad and no food:/
So anyway,
we took the MRT TO XINDIAN STATION! cause on this day,
We were going to visit WULAI! a place with rich aboriginal history and a WATERFALL!
so after we reached Xindian station,
we went hunting for breakfast but ALAS! EVERYTHING WAS STILL CLOSED!
DAMN SAD!
So guess what we had for breakfast?

FOOD FROM 7-ELEVEN!
and OMG I TELL YOU!
The 7-eleven there is AWESOME! like A-W-E-S-O-M-E!
they have like sushi and all that.
I bought a korean sushi roll for like 1.5oSGD!
AND IT WAS DAMN NICE!
and i had ice lemon tea too! =D
Jiayi had herbal egg and red tea.

We went to take a bus after that to WULAI!
there was really nice scenery on the way there.
Mountains and a river with loads of people bathing/swimming in it.
I think it was some sort of competition to swim upstream.

REACHED WULAI! and it was really a picturesque town!
it was nestled in the mountains with a river running through it.
Walked down the commercial lane and we went into this shop with a nice guy and tried the rice wines and stuff.
Wanted to buy but the guy told us to buy when we came back.
HE WAS SO NICE TO US!. (he let us sample SO MANY THINGS!)
so we continued walking down and the weather was actually quite killer.
kept sweating. haha.
The guy did say that Wulai is the coolest (in terms of temp) town in Taipei county and at the point I seriously missed Yang Ming Shan.
It didnt seem very cooling to me. Haha.

SOME HUGEASS YAM BALLS!

so anyway we walked across a bridge and came to another part of town and then we went to take the small electric tram!
(We were kinda lazy to walk to the waterfall)
Yup we paid NTD 50 for a one way ride which is about 2.22 SGD.
The electric tram was really quite fun. haha.
So we took that and immediately came upon the WULAI WATERFALL!
The  way to get there on foot was coincidentally on a path called the lovers walk so it was fine that Jiayi and I didnt walk! LOL.

the starting of the bridge!

failed jumpshot AGAIN:/

train station sign!

the tram!

So anyway, we scrambled to go take nice pics of the waterfall!
It was really quite pretty and really quite different from the one at Shi fen.
This one was much much much higher!

the gondolas!

After much phototaking,
we climbed up ANOTHER LONG FLIGHT OF STAIRS to get to the gondola to go to the top.
So we bought tickets and GOT A DISCOUNT CAUSE OF THE YOUTH TRAVEL CARD!
=D (I am such an aunty I know)
So UP UP AND AWAY we went on the gondola to the resort at the top of the mountain.
People there actually put statues of deities there to pray to them and all.

AHHHHHHHHHH! MORE STAIRS!

the gondola!

So we went up the mountain and then we looked at the map and decided to be adventurous and hike to the mountain stream through a jungle path!
So onward we went and reached a place where there were rowboats!
The water was really really really super clear.
It’s a wonder the fish do not get sunburnt.
The fish are real cute too!
They follow the rowboats around for some reason.

view of the waterfall from the top

So Jiayi and I continued walking and then we finally found ourselves at the beginning of the forest trial and MAN,
did it look dubious,
it was just a super narrow flight of algaey steps leading somewhere… and there was no one climbing it….
so choo and i just continued up the steps UNTIL WE CAME TO A SIGN THAT SAID! “BEWARE OF POISONOUS SNAKES AND WASPS!”
and that was when I kinda started freaking out.
Im not that scared of snakes but WASPS are a nightmare.
you cant do anything if they decide to sting you…
ok maybe the snakes too.
that plus the fact that there didnt seem to be anybody climbing the trail as well and well if anything happened to one of us… there would be NOTHING WE CAN DO.
but upon Jiayi’s insistence, we pressed on and on and on and on…UNTIL…
WE HEARD A SNORTING  NOISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LIKE OMG OMG OMG!We freaked. Seriously.FREAKED OUT and we retraced our steps SUPER FAST!
so anyway, we went back to some place and on the way back,
WE REALLY SAW A SNAKE >.<
It just slithered across our path and into some bush.
oh well.
hahaha.

the path.

the snake!

Later on, we saw a couple playing on a damn cool swing that allows you to swing from one platform to another over water so we wanted to go and try.
However, on the way there, we were stopped by some old grandpa who wanted to help us take pictures..
then he kept commenting that that light was not good and in the end he used his own to take a pic of two of us…
Now that I think of it,
I TOTALLY REGRET IT.
what if we appear in some porno magazine???
SO anyway, the grandpa did the same thing to the girl playing on the swings with her boyfriend.
and later on she actually asked us if he was our grandpa >.<
and she was DAMN SHOCKED when she realised he wasnt.
So anyway, she and her bf helped us on the swings!
They’re damn nice!

the pic the “grandpa” took for us

The next thing we played was this obstacle course that looked like it was from ninja warrior.
HAHAHAHHA.
I was quite reluctant at first cause it was super duper dirty BUT jiayi managed to convince me.

NINJA WARRIOR!

monkey see, monkey do

Haha. Had quite a bit of fun there and after we came down from there,
i noticed some people sitting on rocks along a stream and then Jiayi and I went to do the same!
We took off our shoes and socks and then we waded into the stream.
OMG OMG OMG!
the water was DAMN DAMN DAMN refreshing and cold!
=D so happy.
haha. and there were shrimps, tadpoles and all that in the water!
SIGH. I LOVE MOTHER NATURE! except for all the poisonous stuff.

after that,
we headed back down the mountain on the gondola and bought more postcards to send!
Went for lunch and had ru rou fan and sesame oil noodle!
NICE!
Stuck the stamps on the postcards and then we went to eat SNOW ICE at a shop that was opp where we were.
Had the Mango with mango chunks = hawaii  and Peanut snow ice!
SUPER GOOD!
but it melted super fast cause of the temp and also cause the both of us were busy writing postcards.
haha.

Ru Rou Fan!

the mango chunks WERE DAMN GOOD!

peanut! HALF EATEN.

see! we were so so so diligent!

went to buy the biscuits and wine after that and then we headed to post the postcards.
OMG WE WERE DAMN LOSER.
I remembered I saw the postboxes on our way up but I forgot where it was and then we walked past it like damn a lot of times and asked for directions TWICE!
in the end we went to the post office WHICH WAS QUITE FAR AWAY.
everyone we asked for directions kept telling us that we shouldnt go today cause the postoffice is closed. haha.

Headed back to Taipei after that and we went to visit the NATIONAL THEATER and NATIONAL CONCERT HALL and CKS MEMORIAL HALL!
the grandeur , beauty and scale of the buildings really took my breath away.
It was also cause it was bathed in the light of the setting sun. 🙂 ❤
We headed to find postcards and then we went to the memorial hall and found another gift shop and got even more postcards and then settled down to send them…
we wrote till 6 when the place closed>.<

The CKS Memorial Hall

the stamps!

on our way out,
we were even lucky enough to witness the guard ceremony 🙂
THERE WAS A DAMN CUTE  LITTLE BOY THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIKE OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and he wanted to take a picture:)
and he kept saluting the guards and i think he’s only about 2

who’s hand is that??

<3<3<3 awwwwwwwwww!

So anyway, Jiayi and I returned to the hotel after that and after we washed up, we headed to look for dinner.
most of the food shops were still closed but we were lucky enough to find this zhi cha place.
THE FOOD WAS AWESOME.
so we spent quite long writing out a whole stack of postcards and then we went hunting for YET ANOTHER POSTBOX!
found it eventually and GUESS WHAT HAPPENED!
WE PUT SOME IN THE WRONG BOX AGAIN!
one that was meant for local mail>.<
OH WELL.

WRONG ONE.

right one!

so after we mailed the cards,
WE WENT FOR A FOOT MASSAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
super shiok.
it was 2omins for foot and 20mins for calf and leg
total was about 20SGD.
SUPER SHIOK but pain. ahhahaa.
MAE will laugh when she sees her postcard.
Went shopping after that!

ok. I AM OFF TO DREAM LAND NOW!
see you world in 4 hours time:/
pictures for this post tmr. PROMISE!

love,
jane

DAY 4 THE HIKING DAY!

okok i prolly should really stop procrastinating and actually start blogging about the 4th,5th,6th and 7th day before I go for camp.
(PLUS I.AM.GOING.FOR.A.RUN.TMR.MORNING.PERIOD.)
so here goes the 4th day!

As usual, choo and I awoke BRIGHT AND EARLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!=D
We had breakfast at a brekkie shop nearer our hotel
and then we went to take the train to Xin Beitou station.

SASA 早餐店!

my zhu pai han bao = pork cutlet burger!

The grand hotel! 6 star hotel in Taipei with a super duper LONG history!

It was a pretty long ride but it was worth it! Cause we were going to see geothermal valley, the Hot Spring museum , go to Yang Ming Shan and then to Tian Mu and then to SHILIN!

So anyway, we changed trains at Beitou station and the train to Xin Bei Tou station was SUPER DUPER CUTE!
It had a wood theme inside the train and interactive panels to play with.
Haha.
PLUS, it moves DAMN SLOWLY. >.< prolly one third of the normal train speed.

cute lil display at the platform of the Beitou station towards Xin bei tou

I’m taller than Taipei 101! 😀

The train!

the inside!

SO ANYWAY, JIAYI and I reached the XIN BEI TOU STATION!
It had really pretty statues and stuff.

Headed out of the station and then we went to visit the BEITOU Hot spring park 北投溫泉親水公園.
There was a pretty fountain there and it was a really nice park!
It comprises of the Hot Spring museum and even the Beitou library which is SUPER PRETTY and we kept thinking it was a restaurant.
The park was used as a scene in the Hong Kong film, turn left, turn right.

the fountain!

that’s part of the museum in the background!

So anyway, Jiayi and I went to the Hot Spring museum and it was a pretty cool place!
We had to take out our shoes and change to bathroom slippers before we could enter the place.
It kinda showed the history of HotSprings in Taiwan.
Afterwards when we went outside,
Jiayi had a hand in making her own postcard!
(I didn’t do it cause I was lazy. HAHAHA.)

The olden day hot spring bath.

the post card!

After we were done, we visited the tourist info center to enjoy some air conditioned comfort!
It was set in an old jap house so tt was pretty cool too!
Headed onwards to the highlight in Xin Bei Tou,
THE GEOTHERMAL VALLEY!
The temp of the waters there was something like 80 to 90 degrees celsius!
So we could see steam rising up from the water!
Unfortunately since we were there in summer and the outside temp was already like 33 degrees,
there wasnt that much steam.
If we were there in winter I guess it’ll be so much prettier! HAHA.

GEOTHERMAL VALLEY! I was sweating like crazy by the time we got there.

PRETTY!

see the steam rising?

So after taking a few photos we hurried away cause it was REALLY DAMN BLOODY HOT.
HAHAHA.
and after we trekked back down to the park,
WE MADE THE MOST STUPID DECISION EVER! and I MEAN FOR REAL!
stupid me assumed that we were near Yang Ming Shan and so i suggested to jiayi that we should walk.
She agreed and the two of us followed signs and started walking.
After about 15mins up a never ending incline of road along residential areas,
we stopped at a busstop and decided to take a bus.
We waited for 15mins and soon a cute little minibus came!
We got on and had a SUPER BUMPY RIDE!
and i mean super. and cause the bus was so crowded we kinda forgot to ask the driver where to get off.
AND SO THE WORST THING HAPPENED!
WE GOT OFF AT THE WRONG STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE cause jiayi and I were not sure and she just pressed the bell and we got off without asking>.< silly right.
SO FOR THE NEXT HALF AN HOUR…..
WE HIKED UP A MOUNTAIN!
WITH ALMOST NO END IN SIGHT!
UNDER THE HOT SUN!
DYING!
hahaha. thankfully we bought some sandwiches and 飯糰 so we ate that along the way.
thankfully there was some scenery to enjoy on the way up.

waiting for bus! hahaha

on the bus!

nice scenery on the way up

WHEN WE FINALLY ARRIVED AT SOME TRAFFIC JUNCTION….
the sign pointed somewhere and we followed it.
we were walking and walking and walking,
WHEN SUDDENLY WE SAW A DEAD DOG LYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.
LIKE OMG.
I exclaimed and then ALL OF A SUDDEN,
THE DOG CAME TO LIFE!
stupid dog. scared me to death.
the next thing we knew, he bounded to the middle of the road and did the same thing,
getting up only when the van driver didnt stop to look at him and just drove by him.

So anyway,
we came upon another bus stop and found out that there is another bus to YSM.THANK THE LORD.

super grouchy. hahaha

so we waited for that one and another mini bus came! 小八!
So anyway, this time we were more careful and really watched closely about where we were before we got off. (but actually we got off one stop too early too)
It just so happened that we reached the earliest part of the YSM nature park.
So we went in and experienced cooling air due to a small waterfall coming from the top of the mountain.
It had bleahed the rocks white cause the water was acidic.
We went to find the tourist info counter where we got directions to go to the hiking trails via another bus from the bus interchange about 15mins down the road but before we went there, WE WENT TO SEE THE FLOWERCLOCK!
It was really quite pretty.

The little acidic waterfall.

Flower clock! (in the distance haha)

So anyway after that we went off in pursuit of the bus interchange.
So we walked and walked and walked and walked and walked and cross the road and then went under an underpass (so actually we didnt have to cross the road) BEFORE WE REACHED THE BUS INTERCHANGE.
Seriously damn tiring. EVEN BEFORE WE REACHED THE TOP. WTH.
haha.
So anyway, we took the bus and off we went!
We actually planned to visit 2 or 3 trails but because of all the getting lost we were so tired that we only decided to go for one -the leng shui keng.
It is named as such due to the fact that the hot spring water there is much cooler as compared to other places. But of cause, it was still HOT.
reached there after a while and the first thing that struck me was how COOLING THE WEATHER WAS!
according to Jiayi it was about 20degrees. (her phone said so)
so anyway,
the first thing we did was to head for the Free Hot Spring!
We were full of excitement and anticipation but when we went in it turned to awkwardness…
CAUSE WE SAW A WHOLE GROUP OF NAKED OLD LADIES IN THE HOT SPRING!
they all turned to stare at us and it was really so awkward…
plus they were already crowding up the whole hot spring…
so we left.
hahaha.
SO WASTED RIGHT!
PFFTS.

xiao you keng

how do you not fall in love with this?<3

the free public bath.hahaha

some dudes running for the bus.
THEY MISSED IT BTW.

so anyway, after that failed attempt to take a hot spring bath,
we noticed a staircase leading up to a pavilion near the visitors center.
So up we went, hoping to take awesome pictures of the view.
So up and up we climbed for about 5 mins and then we reached the pavilion!

in the pavilion!

Then we noticed that there was a super steep and long flight of stairs going upwards…..

Jiayi : That looks crazy.
Me: IT IS DAMN CRAZY!
Me: BUT LET’S DO IT! SINCE WE’RE HERE ALREADY!

hahahhaha.
SO UP WE WENT!
(and till now it is my fondest memory:) )
so we started climbing! From the pavilion it was about 500m up according to a sign.
The whole distance from the start was about 700m.
It was exhilarating!
We were sweating and huffing and puffing although there were nice cold winds!
and every time we stopped to take a breather,
THE SCENERY WAS AWESOME! I LOVE TAIWAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so we climbed and climbed and climbed and the butterflies and dragonflies were our companions 🙂
HAPPY!
After about half an hour or twenty mins cant rmb,
WE REACHED THE TOP OF THE TRAIL! (kinda there was actually somemore going to the other side but we decided we had enough)
There was a two story pavilion there and we stopped there to take a rest.
There was a poor doggy there who was panting like mad too!
HAHA JUST LIKE ME!

a bit breathless ok make that a lot

Steep steep steps.

butterfly!

the pavilion!

hehe the poor doggy.

but i tell you, IT WAS ALL WORTH IT!
The views were breathtaking…
if I’m gonna take my wedding photos, I’m gonna take one right up there.
The mountain we were on was called the QI XING SHAN 七星山.
WE COULD EVEN SEE TAIPEI 101 from there and WE WERE HIGHER THAN IT WAS!=D
Jiayi and I took a little snack break there and I really prayed to God while the cold wind whipped about us.
Somehow, for some reason, half my heart is left in Taiwan.. I really dont know why.

the temp up there was about 22 degrees

TAIPEI 101!

So anyway after that, Choo and I headed down the mountain!
which of cause was faster than going up!
Bought snacks at the Visitor Center and then we took the bus back and headed to TIAN MU!

that’s the pavilion!

the staircase that started it all. ahhaha.

Brought Jiayi to visit the TIAN MU flea market!
there were quite a lot of interesting stuff there but the handicrafts were really quite ex.
HAHAHA.
We actually didnt explore the area really much.
HAHAH.
It wasnt long before we took a bus to SHILIN NIGHT MARKET.

some mexican thingy. SUPER NICE

yup it was THAT HOT!

SHILIN NIGHT MARKET was actually a NIGHTMARE.
I hadnt anticipated that going on a weekend = CRAZY and i mean REALLY FANATICAL crowds. there were people on the roads cause the vehicles to have a traffic jam!
sad to say,
Jiayi and I didnt get to try all the famous and good food there like the XXL chicken cause the QUEUES WERE CRAZY LONG.
FOR EVERYTHING
and ALMOST EVERYWHERE.
and for the two of us who do not like crowds very much, it was real torture.
BUT WE STILL MANAGED TO FIND AWESOME THINGS TO BUY! =D
and i bought quite a lot!
HEHEHEHEHE.
Had one of the best milk tea we tasted on the trip there as well.
It was the shaken kind and not the stirred.
So anyway,
We got tired of the crowd real quickly and then we escaped.
haha. Took a one and a half hour bus journey (we could have got off at an earlier stop) to City Hall station and took the MRT back to the hotel.
SORE FEET TTM.

crazy crowd

Beef noodle for the 12354653424 time!

took a photo with shit>.<

BUT I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT and you know what?
I THINK DAY 4 was the BEST DAY out of all the 7 🙂
AND I COULD DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN!
I could climb up 七星山 everyday if I stayed in taipei and had a car.
I really would.
exercising in nature, beauty and AIR-CON TEMPS! BETTER THAN GYM!

BIDDING OFFICIALLY DRIVES ME MAD.

ps: THIS TOOK ME 3 HOURS TO WRITE! OMG. 2am and I NEED TO SLEEP!

love,
jane

DAY 3

OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO DAY 3!

The day was pretty much filled with Shopping! Ok maybe not that much! 🙂

So we woke up early in the morning again and we ate breakfast at a nice lil breakfast shop near our hotel called 美而美.

Then we took the train ALL THE WAY TO TAMSUI!

the scenery was really beautiful as well (:
(weather was really hot too!)

First thing we ate when we went there was THE ICECREAM!
haha but cause of the weather, the icecream started melting like within 1 min!
SUPER HORRIFIC!

(see! melting!)

lol. then we wandered down tamsui old street.

It’s really quaint and pretty!

then we hiked for a while to visit the fort san domigo.
If i dont remember wrongly, it was a Portuguese fort.
It was red and super pretty with awesome views over the South China Sea.
It is really beautiful!
We sent postcards there too!

HEHE!

(watcha looking at?)

(post card!)

went back to Tamsui Old Street after that for lunch!
A GEI, the fishballs and meesua!
YUM YUM!

A GEI! it’s meat and other stuff wrapped in beancurd and served together with soup and a special sauce.

The Tamsui Fishballs! super good.

meesua!

After Tamsui,
we went to visit Taipei 101!

we ZOOMEDDDDDDDDDD up to the 89th floor in 34secs!
Ears kept popping! Hahaha.
The lady in the elevator had to welcome everyone in the elevator in three diff langs in 34s!
So she had to keep talking really really fast!
HAHAHA.
The views were really awesome!
and there and then, I fell in love with Taiwan more and more.
<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
It’s really such a difficult thing to explain.
Choo and I had a machine that was talking to us about the surroundings of Taipei 101. quite interesting.lol
so it being a sorta good weather day allowed Choo and I the opportunity to go up to the open air observation deck on the 92th floor!
It was awesome!
(though the view was really limited due to the metal bars = probably preventing people from committing suicide and like fainting of fear from falling from so high up!i think 🙂 )

So anyway after that we went down to the 89th floor again AND GOT POSTCARDS TO SEND!
haha and then choo choo decided that the chinese words on the mailboxes were prettier and then sent the postcards for our families through there only to realise that it was for LOCAL MAIL!
super frantic k!!!! those postcards werent cheap and we had spent so much effort on them.
thankfully the people at the counter said that they would sort it out.
PHEW.

(see the wrong one!)

(see the right one!)

went to see the damper at the 88th floor after that and then we left the building,

ONLY TO GO TO A PET FAIR AT THE EXHIBITION CENTER!
hahahaha.
SUPER LOT OF CUTE DOGGIES!!!!!!!!!!!!
and weird people all jumping in order to get free doggy food.
HAHAHA.

After 101 we went to XI MEN DING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SHOPPED ALOT and i mean A LOT over there!
AWESOME! 😀 bought 3 pairs of shoes!
had some fried chicken and also the FAMOUS MEE SUA OVER THERE!
AH ZHONG MEE SUA!
ate standing up! haha. super nice!

bought quite a lot of accessories too!
(now jiayi and I are quite sad cause we think we havent bought enough!)

after that we headed back to the hotel! 😀
and if I dont remember wrongly, I was too shagged to go shopping downstairs again! HAHAHA.

just saw a tv program on taiwan and i cried. Yup. cried like an idiot.

love,
jane

DAY 2

DAY 2
woke up BRIGHT (it was really bright) AND EARLY and we bought breakfast from a bakery near our hotel
Then we walked over to the SongShan train station and bought tickets to go to the Rueifang train station cause we were going to JIU FEN AND JING GUA SHI today!!!!

DIAGONAL CROSSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reached the train station about 40mins early so we just bummed around till our train came.
It was real exciting cause it was like one of those electric trains! Ahah.

I kept telling choo that it was a steam train so she kept thinking it was a steam train ahahaha.
So anyway, there were many other families and even a bunch of kiddies on a fieldtrip.
So yup, we took about 40mins to get to rueifang and then we transferred to a bus to get to Jiu fen.
So up the mountain we went!
The views we saw on the bus were STUNNING.
You could see the pacific ocean lapping against the mountain and it was really so pretty.
We reached Jiu Fen and it remained the same as the Jiu fen from my memories three years ago….albeit it was terribly foggy three years back.
We trekked up the old street and tasted quite a few diff types of food and after climbing for a while, we stopped at this quaint little teahouse which had a view of the sea and we went in to get some juice.
It was there that I really felt so relaxed and at peace.
It was so beautiful… really so beautiful.

After we finished our drinks, we went back to the bus stop and took the bus to Jing gua shi.
That place was really beautiful as well and my only regret is that we didnt manage to visit the non touristsy places there.
Lack of planning on my part haha.
haha and i jumped 9 TIMES just to try and get a jump shot
which jiayi still couldnt take >.<
was sweating like mad after that.haha

so anyway after that jiayi and i went back to Jiu fen to buy some tidbits and have lunch.
we went to the same beef noodle stall i went to three years ago!!!!!!!
The food still tastes awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
haha.

So after lunch, we took the bus back to the train station and went to visit the pingxi line.
Super cute olden day electric train.
We didnt have time to visit the whole line so we just went to SHI FEN
The place was really beautiful and it’s famed for being the place to let Tian Dengs.
Choo and I hiked for about half an hour to the Shi fen waterfall.
It was really pretty and the people there are super smart cause they cordoned off the area and collected entrance fees to see the waterfall.
But it was worth it!

So anyway, after that we huffed and puffed back to the small town and set off a Tian Deng.

The lady boss was real nice to us!
We bought 棉花冰 as well!
I guess it translates to be cotten candy icecream or smth like that.
Jiayi had the mango

and I had the strawberry.haha

We bought the 天燈from her too!
I was quite horrified when I realised that they used hell notes to set the thing off…
Oh well. prayed really hard to God.
first wish : that uni life will be smooth
second wish: that we’d we healthy
third wish: that we’d be safe
last wish: that we’d have good relationships and love lives.
HAHA.

after that,
we headed back to the Songshan railway station and headed to Rou He street night market.
Choo wanted to eat a main meal instead of street snacks so we had 小火鍋.
Not too bad.
Wandered around a bought a few things here and there.

just got my timetable..
looking forward to a packed and meaningful life and a CAP of at least 4.0.

love,
jane

DAY 1 The place of my dreams

Ok so I guess this has been delayed for really long.
As of now I probably would have only JUST uploaded all the 4.21gb worth of photos and I probably wouldn’t have even started tagging them and adding captions to them. Haha

Sooooo, I’m gonna do it now!
HEH.
So here goes!

DAY 1

So choo and I got up real early and met at 9:15 at buona vista mrt!
My bro tagged along cause my dear ole daddy was feeling a tad worried. (he called like 6 or 7 times in an hour)
Yup so anyway, We reached Changi Airport Terminal 3 at 10 ish and then we headed to check in cause our luggage was really bulky.
WENT FOR POPEYES AFTER THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 Happy!

Craving fulfilled before I went to Taiwan!
hehehehehe (seriously need to lose weight)
So after Popeyes, I chased my bro back home and choo and I went into the departure hall.
Walked around and Choo decided that it was too early to go into the gate so we wandered around and ended up using the free massage machines! 😀 HEHEHE.

Imagine our panic when the intercom suddenly announced that it was the LAST CALL FOR OUR GATE! OMG.
CHOO AND I DASHED ALL THE WAY TO THE GATE!
(I imagine we looked like two maniacs.)
Soooo anyway, WE GOT ON THE PLANE!
SINGAPORE AIRLINES FLIGHT SQ878
haha. SO HAPPY K! It was my first time taking SQ haha. And the airticket was reall cheap. Even cheaper than jetstar. Imagine that.

Choo and I were super excited about the inflight entertainment. Haha.
The moment the inflight entertainment became available, I chose to watch How to Train A Dragon! Super awesome! Haha.
They had HIMYM and GossipGirl etc! Only saddening thing was that there was no GLEE. Haha.
Had our inflight meal and I drank a Singapore Sling and choo had a screwdriver if I don’t remember wrongly.
They added a whole lot of alcohol.
Much more than my normal tolerance haha
cause after a while I felt my face turning flushed haha.
We had a magnum for dessert too!
talk about AWESOME.
haha.

So anyway,
we landed at the Taoyuan International Airport at approx. 5pm.
We cleared customs, took photos and then went to apply for the Youth Travel Card.
After that we went to get Sim Cards only to find out that they don’t sell Sim cards to foreign youths under 20.
SIGH. So thankfully, Choo had roaming so we called our parents.
Next, we went to take the EGO bus to the Taoyuan High Speed Rail station.
After that Bus ride, WE TOOK THE HIGH SPEED RAIL AND IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

And not all that ex cause we only took it for 2 stops to the Taipei Main Station where we then transferred to MRT to go to our hotel.
All in all, we lugged, climbed, panted and reached our Hotel, WONSTAR SONG SHAN at about 7.30pm.
haha. If we took a cab it would have been SGD 44.40 and we would have reached at 6. Haha.
So anyway, we checked in and found ourselves in a really pretty hotelroom albeit one without windows cause the hotel was in a row of buildings so there were sides without windows.LOL.

So what was up next? FOOD AND SHOPPING OF COURSE!
The location of our hotel was real convenient cause the Wu Fen Pu garment wholesale was just downstairs and there were quite a lot of food stalls around.
We had our first meal in Taiwan in a place called DUMPLING KING where we each had a bowl of ramen and shared 10 dumplings. The waiter even came to double check our order with us cause he couldn’t believe that the two of us were sharing three bowls. Haha.
(the waiters were really cute btw J )
So after the food we went SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bought quite a lot of stuff on the first day.

My mum is so super duper cute!
In order to go against Paul the octopus and Mani the parrot, she decided to bet on soccer for the first time in her life.
$10 on holland to win.
hahaha. the odds are quite ok.. so if holland wins she’ll prolly get $30? lol.
Muahahah then she can give the money to me! LOL. KIDDING!

Anyway, my last day of work wasnt very eventful.Haha.
Cept for the real late visit by A.Choo and Marcus.
Haha. AT LAST MY PROJECT IS DONE!
My boss also made a super funny comment cause I bought a tub of cream of cement (sesame) home to eat.
She said that I’m the one finishing all the sesame ice cream!
AND IT’S TRUE!
omg. hahaha. I eat it almost everyday I work there or not cause last sunday I dragged my dad there and got a scoop of sesame.
hehehe.
She said she’d message me when she made a new batch of sesame icecream. YAY! 🙂
Funny thing was, her son mentioned that he thought “ONLY OLD PEOPLE EAT THAT!”
Ah well, I always knew some part of me had to be old and mature while I look like a total kid from the outside.

Just realised that the font on my new blog skin is SUPER BIG.
but nevermind! I like it that way! 😀

SO anyway, there was some cell group reshuffling today and I really thank God that I’m at peace with it.
No internal struggle no nothing. I just feel good.
😀
Went to Chinatown with S46 today and Fiona and I BROUGHT THE OTHERS TO HAVE KOI FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!!!!!!!!
and omg I tried the hazelnut milk tea for the first time..
IT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!
it’s my all time fave now!
sighhh… just thinking about it makes me crave for it.
I’m going mad I really am.
Oh well.

Pastor Mike Connell(sp?) preached a really impactful sermon today.
I’m gonna cry out to God when I’m in the wilderness and NOT COMPLAIN!
YEAH!

Should I or should I not stay up for the soccer match??
hm… I probably shouldnt… gotta go for chye bong’s birthday lunch tmr…
Oh well ok!
off to bed then!
GOODNIGHT WORLD! ILY!

love,
jane
